Red Ring of Death

We must be the only house in the Redmond/Bellevue area not playing Halo 3 tonight. After many hours of play (including recent a recent addiction to Guitar Hero and the kids discovering Halo 2) our Xbox 360 succumbed to the red ring of death. Fortunately, Microsoft's warranty extension will cover the repair. The process for requesting the repair and getting the mailer box was very straightforward. I have to say I'm pretty proud of the company for standing behind our products and making the experience of getting fixed pretty good. Too bad this little boo boo cost us over a billion dollars.

In the end, it's probably just as well that we don't have the Xbox for the launch. The kids were kicking my butt in Halo left and right. It was getting so bad that they started to mock me. Michael (7) would drop his guns, run up armed only with the energy sword, and slash me from behind laughing. The whole thing is made worse by the fact that first person shooters make me motion sick. Nothing beats a seven year old ridiculing you as he knifes you from behind as you struggle to keep dinner down. Good times.

I hope you're all having fun playing Halo 3. I think I have one more game of Spider Solitaire in me before bed.

Well, happy that yours died AFTER the extension- mine crapped on me a wonderful 14 days after the first year warranty- after finding out how much a certain said company wanted to fix it, I went about fixing it myself. Then said company extended the warranty- except to those that "voided" the extension by means of a self fix. Sigh.
:-D
